I read an interesting section in my tiger book last night. A wise shaman from the book was trying to explain to the young girl how women are like earth and men are like water. The different variations of water affect the earth in different ways. If the young man is a river...it runs across earth and morphs it into a trench to carry it. If the man is the ocean, the earth forms soft sands on the shore line that the restless waves of water breaks upon. If he is a lake...the earth is the 'bowl' of sorts that supports and surrounds the quite and content waters. Each new water form brings new earth form. He is trying to tell her that there is no wrong choice...but whichever man she chooses will form her into something different. "But what if I can't choose between the river and the ocean.......i dont want to be earth. I am going to be the moon" she says. The shaman simply replies "You can be the moon, but remember dear girl, even the moon controls the tides"
